AMA's Day Celebration in Thailand
Thai Veteran Athletics Association (TVAA) in association with Thai Health Promotion Foundation will stage the 2017 Asia Masters Athletics (AMA)’s Day Celebration in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khinrikhan, from July 14 to 16, said TVAA President Mr Viwat Vigrantanoros.AMA, which was established in 1981 in Singapore, started commemorating its founding day with competitions from last year. The inaugural edition was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“We have been trying to encourage the elderly men and women to do more exercise since we believe that to have a healthy mind one must have a healthy body and to gain a healthy body one must do exercise,” said Mr Viwat, who is also the President of AMA.Viwat expressed the hope that all member countries of AMA would celebrate the day – just like Olympic Games are celebrated by every country in the world.Over 500 participants from all over the country will participate in competitions in Hua Hin. The event is supported by Thai Health Promotion Foundation. Activities include sports and recreation on the beach, a seminar on health promotion, a seminar on master athletics and community, lectures on sports and exercise for the elderly and exchange of knowledge among the participants.
