WMA GALLERY OF CHAMPIONS  , a new project introduced by WMA this year 2024, to honour  master athletes with excellent performances and who are committed to promote athletics and sport in their communities.

 

The request of nominations for Gallery of Champions was sent to all WMA Members  by the WMA Secretary last year (2023).  The  email was sent to all WMA Members directly by WMA Secretary.

 

There were only 3 countries from Asia Region nominated their mater athletes :

Iran, Thailand and  Malaysia.  It was indeed unfortunate that  many AMA Members except the 3 countries  did NOT nominate their best master athletes.

 

There were 39 names nominated by WMA Members.  Among the 39 nominations, 12 names were selected  based on their consistent performances and their commitments to promote sports in their communities, by a panel of 6 Judges , appointed by WMA.

 

I am glad to announce that one master athlete from Asia (Malaysia) , JULIANA GUMPIL W60 was selected among the final 12 finalists (athletes from Asia, America, Europe and Oceania).

 

All the 12 athletes were inducted into WMA GALLERY OF CHAMPIONS  on 19th August 2024, in Gothenburg during the WMA Championships.

 

On behalf of AMA, we CONGRATULATE   JULIANA GUMPIL for  having been selected into Gallery of Champions and as the ambassador of masters athletics.
